CEREC
What is CEREC?
CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It is a technology that allows us to create natural looking full porcelain crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers in a single visit.
What are the benefits of CEREC?
- No impressions are needed to create a CEREC crown. We use digital imaging and CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technlogy to create the crowns. Digital pictures are taken of the prepared tooth, and they are sent to the computer where the crown is designed.
- A CEREC crown can be completed in one visit, and there is no need to wear a temporary crown. After we design your crown, it is created right in our office and placed in the same visit. A typical CEREC crown appointment takes about two hours.
- CEREC restorations are more esthetically pleasing. They are made entirely out of porcelain and do not contain any metal. This results in a strong restoration that more closeley resembles natural tooth structure. Full porcelain crowns are also more compatible with the tissues in the mouth.
